OUR STORY
The Welcome Mat was born out of receiving regular requests from friends and referrals for help with Wood River Properties. What started out as lending a helping hand slowly grew into developing a new business plan as we exited our last business that was based in Boise. Ready to take on more and become a part of the local service community, we officially started The Welcome Mat in June 2023.
Our goal from the beginning, and continues to be, strategic smart growth focused. We want to build great partnerships with our customers and grow the business through trusted referrals and quality relationships.

Welcome Mat founders, Kirstyn McKay and Scott Sparks, have proudly called Idaho home for over 30 years.
Kirstyn, originally hailing from Australia, was drawn to Idaho for its exceptional skiing and outdoor pursuits. On the other hand, Scott, is a true Idaho native who is passionate about spending time in the mountains - a shared interest that brought them together.
With a combined history of owning and operating seven businesses in Idaho, our focus has predominantly been in the real estate industry. Kirstyn, a versatile creative professional, has made her mark in various industries, including residential real estate, property remodeling and corporate marketing. Her keen eye for detail, coupled with a creative flair, is evident in her ability to cultivate warm, welcoming and exceptionally well-maintained properties.
Scott brings extensive knowledge and experience in home
improvement, commercial construction, and property
maintenance. Additionally, Scott spent 25 years at Idaho
Power Company in business consulting and analytics.
